The short version

Your photos are yours. We don't share them, sell them, or keep them longer than needed. We collect basic contact and payment information to do our jobs, and we use standard analytics tools to understand how the website is being used.

01What we collect

We collect only what we need to do our work and run the business:

  • Contact information — name, mailing address, phone number, and email address, when you reach out or book a job
  • Photos and originals — the physical and digital materials you submit for scanning (see Section 2)
  • Payment information — processed through secure third-party providers; we don't store card numbers (see Section 4)
  • Website analytics — standard browsing and device data collected by Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, and Microsoft Clarity (see Section 3)

We don't collect biometric data, social media credentials, calendar information, or anything else not listed above — regardless of what you may have seen in other photo scanning companies' privacy policies.

02Your photos

When you hand us your photographs — physical originals or the digital files we produce — here is what we do and don't do with them:

  • We use your photos only to complete your job
  • We never share your photos with anyone, for any reason
  • We never use your photos for marketing, AI training, or any other purpose without your explicit written consent
  • Digital files are retained only as long as needed to complete delivery and any agreed storage period, then deleted
  • Your originals are returned to you
Your photos are irreplaceable. We treat them that way at every step of the job and after.

03Analytics & tracking

scansquirrel.com uses three analytics tools to understand how the site is being used. Each may set cookies on your device and collect standard browsing data — pages visited, time on site, device type, and general location.

Google Analytics (G-M0DFY2Y7XE) — tracks site traffic and user behavior.
Opt out: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout

Meta Pixel (2148206675947024) — measures ad performance and site visits from Facebook and Instagram.
Opt out via your Facebook ad preferences

Microsoft Clarity (vp5j1zbe4c) — records anonymized session data including clicks and scroll behavior to help us identify usability issues.
Opt out via your browser's Do Not Track setting or Microsoft's privacy dashboard

None of these tools have access to your photos or personal information beyond what your browser shares with any website.

04Payment information

We accept cash, check, Zelle, Venmo, and major credit and debit cards. Card payments are processed by secure third-party providers — we do not store, see, or have access to your full card number, expiration date, or CVV.

We retain transaction records (amounts, dates, job references) for standard business accounting purposes.

05How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Communicate with you about your job
  • Process payment and issue invoices
  • Complete, deliver, and follow up on your scanning job
  • Understand how people use our website and improve it
  • Comply with legal obligations

We don't use your information for automated decision-making, behavioral profiling, or targeted advertising based on your personal data.

06Who we share with

We share your information only in these circumstances:

  • Payment processors — to complete transactions, as described in Section 4
  • Analytics providers — Google, Meta, and Microsoft receive anonymized browsing data as described in Section 3
  • Legal authorities — if required by law, court order, or valid legal process

We never share your photos with anyone — not analytics providers, not partners, not anyone.

07We don't sell your data

Scan Squirrel does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party, for any purpose.

08Cookies

Our website uses cookies set by Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, and Microsoft Clarity. These are analytics cookies used to understand site traffic and improve the user experience.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time or opt out of specific tools using the links in Section 3. Disabling cookies won't affect your ability to use this website or book a job.

09California privacy rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act:

  • Right to know — what personal information we collect, how we use it, and with whom we share it
  • Right to delete — request deletion of your personal information
  • Right to opt out — we don't sell personal data, so there is nothing to opt out of
  • Right to non-discrimination — we will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@scansquirrel.com with your request. We will respond within 45 days and may need to verify your identity before acting.

10Children's privacy

Our services are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

11Third-party links

Our website links to other sites — equipment pages, cloud storage services, and others. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. Read their policies before sharing any personal information with them.

12Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at scansquirrel.com/privacy with an updated effective date. The policy in effect when you submitted your materials governs that job.
